  Stock Market Glossary

  Margin:
A deposit of funds to provide collateral for an investment position. See also initial margin, variation margin and maintenance margin.
 
Majority shareholder:
A Shareholder who is part of a group that controls more than half the outstanding Shares of a corporation

  Market efficiency:
The degree to which current prices reflect a set of information.

 
Market prices:
The amount of Money that a willing buyer pays to acquire something from a willing seller, when a buyer and seller are independent and when such an Exchange is motivated by only commercial consideration.

 
   
   
Market lots:
The minimum trading lot on a stock exchange. On compulsorily dematerialized shares for all classes of investors, the market lot is just one share

 
  Minimum price movement:
The smallest possible price change. See also point and tick size.

 
  Mutual fund:
This is a type investment company that sells its shares (called units) to the public and uses the proceeds to invest in other companies.
